Symposium ICONS2024

Symposium I.C.O.N.S. 2024

The Research Institute of Neuroscience, Education and Teaching (RINED) of the Patrizio Paoletti Foundation, in 2019 organized the first edition of I.C.O.N.S., the international conference on the neurophysiology of silence. After two more editions in 2021 and 2023 with hundreds of researchers from all over the world, the Research Institute proposes a seminar addressed to students and interested public in Sapienza University in Rome.

The goal of the seminar is to deepen the understanding of the effects of silence on the health and well-being of individuals. Indeed, silence, broadly conceived, has beneficial effects both directly, by improving brain functioning and neuronal communication, and indirectly, through stress reduction.
The perspectives from which the topic will be treated will range from neuronal plasticity and epigenetics associated with lifelong learning, to the importance of the lack of silence in the individual and society, and finally to the presentation of methods and techniques to promote well-being and resilience to stress.

At the end of the seminar, an anonymous survey and brief open discussion session will focus on assessing the perceived effectiveness of the seminar participants and possible avenues for improvement.
